JOIN THE LINE OF TEACHERS AND PARENTS STANDING IN SOLIDARITY TO REDEFINE EDUCATION.

Teachers and parents are uniting and speaking with one voice, demanding better for our students and communities. Together, we are advocating for improvements in education and demanding policy changes.

In doing so, we will reveal an
undeniable truth that can no longer be ignored: the current system is failing our students and hurting our teachers.

The line on this map represents a growing number of teachers, parents and supporters who are
virtually standing in line precisely 6 feet apart, starting at Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

WHEN YOU JOIN THE LINE BELOW, THE LINE WILL GROW ANOTHER 6 FEET.

AS YOU ASK OTHER'S TO JOIN, IT WILL CONTINUE TO GROW.

ABOUT

For decades, teachers have taken on roles that go far beyond their professional responsibilities and training. They have demonstrated their willingness to do more work with less resources for the sole purpose of serving their students to the best of their abilities.

The recent pandemic has magnified an expectation that both teachers and students must unnecessarily risk their lives and well-being for the sake of returning to the malfunctioning status-quo. This is an unacceptable expectation. It results from a consistent disregard for teachers' working conditions, a misunderstanding of student needs, a widening division between parents and teachers, and austerity measures that have gone too far. Over time, these conditions have cultivated unhealthy working environments for educators and, subsequently, inadequate learning conditions for students.

Teachers have been advocating for greater representation and participation within a system that has put them on the sidelines, for decades. Teachers’ voices must be centralized in policy making, professional expectations, measures of success, and curricular development.

Our demands and their respective recommendations will improve education beyond the pandemic, and change the foundation for generations to come.

WHO WE ARE AND WHY WE ARE HERE
